I visited their office for the first time a couple weeks ago – And WOW!
Believe me when I say ~ it’s an amazing experience just to walk in the door. This decor is Absolutely GORGEOUS!
Beautifully done Waiting Areas and Offices at every turn. If I hadn’t known better, I could have been convinced I was spending time at an exquisite resort. Calming and SO Elegant.
I first met with Heather, wife of Dr. Andrew Gear, Office Manager and apparently, master decorator (she decorated every square inch of the spacious 8,000 facility) – Heather is gorgeous, welcoming and shared an depth knowledge of every procedure and product Providence Plastic Surgery has to offer – and there are many! She is fabulous on every level.
Heather and I talked all things skincare – they offer only the highest medical grade – with favorites such as ZO Skin Health, Revision Skincare, Alastin Skincare, SkinCeuticals and RevitaLash Cosmetics – just to name a few. Providence Plastic Surgery was kind enough to share lots of these products with me and I’ll be covering many of these in upcoming posts over the next several weeks!!

Dr. Gear comes from a long lineage of professors and physicians. Medicine is literally in his blood. His great, great grandfather was an Obstetrician in Scotland. His great grandfather, Sir William Leishman, a Scottish infectious disease doctor, discovered (and named) a tropical, parasitic disease transmitted by sandflies, Leishmaniasis. His grandfather, Dr. Harry Gear, co-founded the World Health Organization. His own father, educated at Oxford University, emigrated to the United States in 1965 for a professorship in Biochemistry at the University of Virginia.
Dr. Gear’s practice philosophy focuses on artistic, tasteful changes in a patient’s body that create a greater sense of well-being, wholeness and joy. The body and soul are an integrated whole, and when someone looks better, they invariably feel better. Like his own father, Dr. Gear remains an inquisitive scientist and is actively involved in clinical studies and writing including the testing and development of an alternative pocket irrigation solution for breast implants. He was the first plastic surgeon in North Carolina to adopt Enhanced recovery protocols to improve patient safety and outcomes in the outpatient setting. He was the first surgeon in the greater Charlotte area to use the IDEAL IMPLANT® for breast augmentation. Dr. Gear never stays still when it comes to learning new techniques in Plastic Surgery. All the techniques he currently uses are NOT what he learned during training if that says anything! His whole practice is born out of a constant pursuit of innovation and excellence.

I selected Botox as my first procedure – after 18 months of chemo, this was the first thing on my list and I was so excited!!
Holly popped in and immediately began asking all the right questions – my medical history, my skin history and what I wanted to accomplish with this injection. She’s a veteran in the industry and it absolutely shows! She took her time – taking photos and asking all the right questions. I love how Holly was so diligent in asking about my Breast Cancer treatments – She put me completely at ease as she took notes to ensure she fully understood my current physical state. That meant the world to me and is a strong testament to the medical ethics of Holly and the entire staff at Providence Plastic Surgery. They’re Amazing!
Holly administered painless injections, and, of course, explained all the while what I could expect from each area as far as improvement.
That was a little over two weeks ago… and to say I’m THRILLED with my results is an understatement!!
I love that she listened to me and gave me “just enough” to look refreshed rather than frozen!! I love it!
My second treatment was scheduled for three days later A CO2 Laser Treatment!
Modern technology and the skincare professionals at Providence Plastic Surgery make miracles happen. At least they did for me! I have always felt my skin was just less than… large pores and an uneven texture has always been the problem for me. Intense Pulse Light (IPL) photofacials enhance the look and feel of your skin, so I was seriously excited to get this procedure done!! IPL photofacials rejuvenate skin reducing redness, correct uneven pigmentation, improve skin texture and smooth fine lines and wrinkles!!
I first received a complimentary skin analysis from Jennifer – one of the extensively trained skincare consultants at Providence Plastic Surgery – which took about 20 minutes.
Jennifer was extremely thorough, covering every angle to be sure the COOL PEEL was the proper treatment for my skin type and desired outcome.
The consultation also included a detailed skin analysis also used to guide my personalized skincare treatment plan and home regimen.
My COOL PEEL EXPERIENCE:
Unlike lasers, IPL uses a broad-spectrum of light that penetrates several layers deep in the skin. It warms the skin using heat to stimulate production of new collagen and connective tissue through the body’s natural healing process.
Before treatment, Jennifer generously gel to the treatment areas to enhance comfort and allow the hand-piece to glide smoothly over the skin. I relaxed for about 20 minutes to allow the gel to gently numb – the lights dim and spa music faintly playing – so relaxed as I just rested, soaking in the peaceful surroundings.
The COOL PEEL are convenient treatments and take about 20 minutes to perform. The best part is – they are absolutely pain-free and you can resume your normal activities immediately afterwards!!
After Jennifer completed the treatment, she explained that my skin would be a bit red and scaly I’ve the next couple days but there should be no pain. She sent me home with a full battery of gentle cleansing foams, lotions and balms to continue pampering my skin as the process evolved over the next few days.
I wore no makeup the following three days after treatment and followed directions about which lotions and balms were to be used.
Honestly, the entire process was much easier than I had anticipated. The redness disappeared after just one day and I never experienced any burning or pain whatsoever(I had in my head that that was inevitable! WRONG!!).
My skin did scale a bit, just as Jennifer had told me, but even that was short lived!
And let me tell you about my RESULTS!
Y’all… I have ALWAYS had large pores. I have ALWAYS had an uneven skin tone and ALWAYS been very aware of the poor texture of my skin. I thought I’d see an improvement but believe me when I say – This ONE TREATMENT completely changed my skin!
These treatments are set up to be done every four to six weeks (for three treatments total). I am amazed how much my skin has improved after treatment number one! My pores have NEVER been so small and the overall texture and look of my skin has totally changed.
I am going back in a couple weeks for treatment number two – I can’t even imagine how it could get much better – I cannot wait to see those results! I’ll definitely keep you updated!
